Apple Pie Punch

Celebrating the fall season with this festive beverage brings people together.  I especially love how the spices create an inviting aroma in the home as you simmer the spices in saucepan or better yet a slow cooker.

Enjoy warming your hands around a mug of this hot apple drink, spiced with cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg.

Recipe Serves 8

 

INGREDIENTS

1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon

a pinch of ground cloves

½ whole grated nutmeg

2l apple juice

2 tsp vanilla extract

6 scoops vanilla ice cream

*for adult beverages rum can be added

(optional)

apple crisps

 

METHOD

Step 1
Combine the cinnamon, ground cloves, nutmeg, apple juice and vanilla extract in a large saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer.

Step 2
Once the apple juice has warmed through, add the vanilla ice cream and whisk vigorously with a balloon whisk until melted and combined with the hot apple juice – the ice cream should make a frothy top on the juice.

Step 3
Pour a splash of dark rum into the bottom of the adults’ cups and top up with the hot punch. Garnish with apple crisps, if you like.
