This homemade blackberry lemonade recipe is just the beverage for a hot summer day. Made with four simple ingredients, it's sweet, refreshing, and deliciously tart. It's a favorite with the family and guests.
INGREDIENTS
4 cups water, divided
1 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 cup blackberries
1 TB grated lemon zest
METHOD
1. Combine 1 cup of water with the sugar and berries in a small saucepan.
2. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, smashing the berries with a potato masher to release some of their juice.
3. Once the sugar has dissolved, about 2 to 3 minutes of cooking, remove from the heat and cool slightly.
4. Strain the seeds from the syrup using a fine strainer into a large pitcher. Discard the seeds.
5. Stir in the lemon juice and remaining 3 cups of water.
6. Chill and serve with ice.
7. Garnish with fresh blackberries and sliced lemon.
